CSV Field Reference
This is the field-by-field reference for program import: the fields OmniBurrow understands for rabbits, litters, weights, contacts, and finances, and what each accepts. Name your columns using one of the recognized headers below and the mapping is filled in for you — anything else you map by hand, and anything you leave unmapped is kept in the record's notes rather than dropped.
How to read this
There is one table per record type below. For each field you get the recognized headers — name a column any of those and OmniBurrow maps it for you — and what the field accepts.
Three rules apply to all five types:
- One record type per file. Each file is read as one kind of record, so a workbook with five tabs becomes five files.
- The fields listed as required are the minimum a row needs before it can be committed. Rows missing them are skipped, not guessed at.
- Headers are matched loosely. Case, spaces, underscores, and punctuation are ignored, so
Ear Tag,ear_tag, andEARTAGall match.
If you are importing from a program with a shipped profile — Evans Rabbit Register, Kintraks, or Everbreed — you do not need this page: those headers are recognized automatically and mapped to these same fields. See the per-source guides.

When your file carries the other program's own row IDs — a rabbit's ID plus its sire's and dam's IDs — parents are linked by ID and are always exact. Without them, parents are matched by name, which is usually right but depends on consistent spelling.
Litters
Required: a doe.
| Field | Recognized headers | Accepts |
|---|---|---|

| Buck / sire | buck, sire, father, buck name, sire name, male | The buck's name or ear tag |

| Cage | cage, cage number, hole, location, nest box | Text |
| Notes | notes, note, comments, comment, remarks, memo | Text |
A litter whose doe is not found in your herd is skipped, so import your rabbits first.
Weights
Required: a rabbit name or ear tag, a date, and a weight.

| Weight | weight, weight oz, weight lbs, weight grams, oz, ounces, grams, mass, lbs, pounds | Weight, with or without a unit |
| Notes | notes, note, comments, comment, remarks, memo | Text |
A weight whose rabbit is not found is skipped rather than attached to the wrong animal.

| Description | description, item, memo, detail, details, reason, notes | Text |
| Buyer / vendor | buyer, customer, sold to, paid to, vendor, seller, counterparty, contact | Text |
Imported rows are never filed as rabbit sales, rabbit purchases, or deposits. Those categories belong to real sales recorded in OmniBurrow, so imported history cannot inflate them.
Date and number formats
Dates
| Written as | Read as |
|---|---|
2026-03-04 | 4 March 2026 |
Mar 4, 2026 | 4 March 2026 |
4 Mar 2026 | 4 March 2026 |
3/4/2026, 3-4-2026, 3.4.2026 | 4 March 2026 — US month/day |
13/4/2026 | 13 April 2026 — a first number over 12 is read as the day |
3/4/26 | 4 March 2026 — two-digit years 49 and under are 2000s, 50 and over are 1900s |
46081 | Excel's raw date serial number |
When both numbers are 12 or less the order is genuinely ambiguous. OmniBurrow assumes US month/day and flags the row on the review screen so you can check it.
Sex
Buck: buck, bucks, male, males, m, b, sire, boy.
Doe: doe, does, female, females, f, d, dam, girl.
Anything else imports as unknown.
Weights
66 oz, 4.5 lb, 4 lb 2 oz, 1200 g, and 1.2 kg are all converted to ounces, which is what
OmniBurrow stores. A bare number with no unit is assumed to be ounces, and the review screen tells
you how many rows that applied to.
Money
$1,250.00, 1250, and 1250.00 all read as the same amount — currency symbols, commas, and spaces
are ignored. A cell with no readable number means the row is skipped.
Ownership status
| Your value | Becomes |
|---|---|
| active, alive, current, keep, breeder | Active |
| sold, sale | Sold |
| deceased, dead, died | Deceased |
| rehomed, gifted, given | Rehomed |
| reference, ref, pedigree | Reference |
| harvested, butchered, processed, culled | Harvested |
Anything else leaves the status unset.
Contact type
buyer, customer, and client become Buyer; breeder becomes Breeder; vendor,
seller, and supplier become Vendor. Anything else becomes Other.
Finance type and category
A row is imported as an expense when its type column reads expense, expenses, debit,
cost, or purchase. Everything else is imported as income.
Categories are matched by name: feed, feeding, hay, food, and pellets become Feed;
med, meds, medication, medicine, vet, and veterinary become Meds; supplies,
supply, and equipment become Supplies; show, show fee, show fees, entry, and
entries become Show fees. Anything else becomes Other.
Unmapped columns
Nothing in your file is thrown away. Any column you do not map — and any column a profile has no field for — is written into the imported record's notes as a labelled list, so an unfamiliar export does not lose data in translation.
You will find it on the rabbit, litter, or contact itself, under notes, as Header: value lines. The
combined note is capped at a few thousand characters, so an extremely wide spreadsheet may be
truncated; the mapped fields are never affected.
The named profiles fold their own extras in the same way — Evans keeps storage area, prefixes, and suffixes; Kintraks keeps call name, suffix, health, and custom fields; Everbreed keeps genotype and its litter summary columns.
