Treatments & Withdrawal Periods
Record a treatment and OmniBurrow works out the date the animal clears withdrawal — the last day of the course plus the medication's withdrawal days — and then blocks you from recording that animal as processed until the date has passed. It is a hard block, not a warning: getting past it takes a deliberate override and a written reason, which is stored on the record permanently.
There is one condition on all of it, and it is the thing to check first.
The clear date is calculated from the meat withdrawal days recorded on the medication. If that field is empty or zero, the treatment gets no clear date at all and the processing block never fires for it. OmniBurrow does not know withdrawal periods for medications — it uses the number you entered. Set it from the product label or your vet's instruction when you add the medication, and check it before you rely on the block.
Record a treatment
A treatment attaches to a rabbit or a litter, and needs a medication from your medication inventory — you pick from that list rather than typing a drug name.

Go to Dashboard → Health and add a treatment, or start from the Health section of a rabbit.
Open Health → New treatment, or use a rabbit's Health section. This works offline.

The frequency is not decoration: OmniBurrow generates dose reminders from it, so a twice-daily five-day course puts the doses on your task list rather than leaving you to remember.
A treatment is scheduled if it starts in the future and active once it has begun, then completed or cancelled.
How the withdrawal period is tracked
Two dates come out of a treatment, and it is worth knowing which is which:
- End date = start date + duration − 1. A five-day course starting on the 1st ends on the 5th, not the 6th.
- Withdrawal clear date = end date + the medication's meat withdrawal days.
So a five-day course starting the 1st, on a medication with a 14-day withdrawal, ends on the 5th and clears on the 19th.
The clear date is surfaced in three places:
- On the treatment record itself.
- On the rabbit, which carries the date it is under withdrawal until — this is the latest clear date across all of its treatments, so overlapping courses cannot shorten it.
- In the processing flow, as the block described below.
Finding animals under withdrawal
A rabbit under withdrawal is flagged on its own record and in the rabbits list, so you can see at a glance which animals in a row are not available. On the phone the flag appears on the rabbit's row alongside its other status chips.
Because the rabbit's own date is the latest clear date across its treatments, an animal treated twice with overlapping courses shows the later of the two.
Processing and withdrawal
This is the part that matters.
When you record a rabbit or a litter as processed, OmniBurrow checks the latest withdrawal clear date. If that date has not yet passed, the record is refused and you are told the date it clears. Nothing is saved.
To proceed anyway you must do two things deliberately: tick the withdrawal override, and type a reason. The reason is not optional — an override without one is refused as well. Both the override and your reason are stored on the processing record, so the decision is auditable afterwards rather than invisible.
The block lifts once the clear date has passed.
The block is only as good as the withdrawal days on the medication and the treatments you actually recorded. A dose given and never entered is invisible to OmniBurrow, and a medication with no withdrawal days set produces no block at all. Treat it as a safety net over your own records, not as a substitute for knowing what you gave and when. Your withdrawal obligations are set by the product label and your local regulations, not by this app.
Linking to inventory
Treatments draw their medication from your medication inventory, which is where the withdrawal days, strength, route, and expiry live.
Recording a treatment does not reduce the quantity on hand. The quantity is a number you maintain yourself — nothing decrements it as doses are given. If you want stock levels to mean something, update them when you open a new bottle.
