Your first week checklist
You do not need to set everything up at once, and you do not need to backfill years of history for the software to start being useful. This checklist is ordered by payoff: get your rabbits in first, then your current breedings, then weights, and leave the business side until you actually need it.
Enter the herd as it stands today and go forward from there. Pedigrees, analytics, and growth charts all build themselves from what you record from now on — old data is a nice-to-have, not a prerequisite.
Day 1 — get your rabbits in
- Set your rabbitry name, so pedigrees and cage cards carry it → Account Setup
- Check the two growth settings — expected ADG (1.5 oz/day) and target butcher weight (4 lb 8 oz) — and change them if your breed differs
- Get the herd in:
- Existing records in a spreadsheet or another app → Migrating In
- Starting from scratch → Add your first rabbit
- If you have the mobile app, sign in and let the first sync finish while you are still on Wi-Fi
Getting ear tags and dates of birth right at this stage saves the most work later — they are what identity matching, show classes, and growth projections all lean on.
Day 2 — breeding and litters
- Record any current breedings, so expected kindling dates start showing up in what's due
- Add litters already on the ground, either as individually tracked kits or as phenotype buckets if you only need counts → Litters & Kindling
- Set sires and dams on the rabbits you added yesterday — this is what builds pedigrees → Pedigrees
Day 3 — weights
- Weigh your grow-outs and log the weights → Weights & Average Daily Gain
- Print cage cards for the cages you weigh most often → Cage Cards
- Try Barn Scan on that row — scan the cage card, type the weight, move to the next cage without leaving the camera
One round of weights does not tell you much. Two rounds a week apart is when average daily gain and projected butcher dates start being worth reading.
Later that week — health, feed, and the business side
- Log any treatment already in progress, so withdrawal dates are tracked rather than remembered → Treatments & Withdrawal Periods
- Add the medications and feed you keep on hand → Supply Inventory
- Record feed purchases and allocate them, which is what makes feed conversion work → Feed Tracking
- Add buyers and anyone waiting on a rabbit → Contacts & Buyers
- Set up recurring tasks for nest boxes, cage cleaning, and health checks → Tasks & Reminders
Confirm it all synced
Worth doing once at the end of the week, so you know both apps agree:
- On the mobile app, pull to refresh on the home screen and let it settle.
- Open the web app and confirm your herd count matches what the phone shows.
- If something is missing, check Sync Diagnostics on the phone — it shows anything still waiting to upload.
